bio

Jimi Williams, recipient of the Idea Music Legacy Award from Camden, NJ has an extensive entertainment background. His career includes singing with TRU, a trio that specialized in R&B classics as well as their own compositions and he also was a replacement for one of the members of the Elgins (Darling Baby, Heaven Must Have Sent You). He sang with the Ebonys, a world-renowned Camden, NJ group (You're The Reason Why). Jimi has quietly built a fan base while sharing the stage with such notables as Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder, Little Anthony and the Imperials, and the Dennis Edwards Temptations Review. Most recently he sang background vocals on the "Jean Carne and Glen Leonard's CD" "Then and Now." Jimi has also worked with Philadelphia's own Barbara Mason and Hall and Oates, Legendary Blue Notes, and First Choice's Wardell Piper. Jimi has toured around the world and worked in most major casinos in the United States.

Jimi has acting experience as shown by his co-starring role in the "Buddy Bolden Story." Under the direction of Professor Joe Walker who wrote the Broadway play "The River Niger," Jimi has received numerous offers to tour overseas and is currently finishing his first solo album project after many years as the lead singer of his group, TRU.

As a stylish, classy, elegant gentleman from Camden, NJ, Jimi Williams is a true representation of the talent from his city and has earned the respect and recognition of the entertainment industry. He has a new release on Society Hill Records that was recorded to honor his family member Billy Paul, who has paved the way for many other artists. The song, "I Think I'll Stay" is out and available and the full project will be available in October.
